As a not-for-profit utility company, helping you save energy and money is important to us! Each year, KPUB offers our Energy Efficiency Rebate Program for our customers making any of the energy-saving improvements listed below.
Please note that these rebates apply only to home improvement or retrofit projects. Applications and installation must be made within the program dates provided above and meet all the eligibility terms and conditions listed.

Terms & Conditions

1.   Eligibility: The rebate project must be completed for a KPUB account holder within the KPUB  service area. Rebate will not exceed the cost of the project. Rebate maximums are per account.

2.   Project timeline: Applications and supporting documents must be filed within the fiscal year listed on page 1.

3.   Application submission: Applications must be submitted one of two ways:

              ·   Email to: energy@kpub.com or

              ·   Mail to Energy Efficiency Dept, 2250 Memorial Blvd, Kerrville, TX 78028.

4.   Completed application: A complete application must be signed by the account holder and includes pages 1 and 2 of this document along with any other pages from the application needed to apply for all eligible rebates.

5.   Required documentation: any missing documentation will delay processing. Contractor’s invoice/purchase receipt must be provided and show model number and serial number of all equipment installed.

               a.    Central air and heat pump rebates: this requires an AC, Heating & Refrigeration                        Institute (AHRI) certificate.

               b.    For insulation rebates: the invoice must include square footage of work area.

               c.    For windows: include copies of each windows specifications that states area or                        window dimensions.

6.   Photos must be submitted: Please included photos of the installation (which can potentially serve in lieu of an onsite inspection). The rebate must be properly verified through photos or on-site inspection for an approved payment.

7.   Payment process: Once completed paperwork is submitted, rebate payments are usually made within 4-6 weeks. All rebates will be applied as a credit to your electric bill unless 3rd party payment is authorized. KPUB reserves the right to refuse payment if the account holder or contractor violates program terms and conditions.

8.   Program discretion: Rebates are available and processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Rebate amounts and offerings are subject to change or termination without notice at the discretion of KPUB. This program is subject to change or cancellation without notice.

9.   Disclaimers: KPUB is not responsible for any damage, injury, loss, or liability of any kind arising from or related to the improvements covered by the rebate or the installation thereof. KPUB does not endorse any particular manufacturer, product, supplier, or contractor and does not expressly or implicitly warrant the performance of any equipment or any contractor’s quality of work.

Under penalty of perjury, I certify that the above declaration is true and correct; and I understand and acknowledge that the information is subject to audit and investigation by KPUB, and a site visit/audit for rebate eligibility may be required prior to payment of the rebate. The site visit/audit is for record purposes only and does not guarantee the quality of the work performed. I have read and agree to the program’s terms and conditions. I also understand and acknowledge that submission of this application does not guarantee qualification for a rebate.

Attic Insulation Upgrade
Requirements: Square footage measurements will be verified against Kerr County property tax records, or inspected by a KPUB employee. Applications must be signed by the Account Holder. Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor (include existing R-value and ending R-value, type and square feet) along with your application form. Installation not performed by a contractor will be subject to KPUB inspection to validate requirements are met.
Submission of one photo showing the entire attic floor and one close-up photo of a ruler that shows the measurement of the depth of the insulation before and after is required for installation validation.














Rebate*: $0.20/ sq ft

Rebate Maximum is $300

Attic insulation must be installed between conditioned (air conditioned living area below ceiling) and unconditioned areas (attic) to qualify. Final insulation must be at least R-38 and existing attic insulation must be no greater than R-14.
Degradation due to age and density of the existing insulation should be taken into account. All insulation must be new materials and have R-Value stated on the packaging material. Garages and other non-living areas do not qualify.

Heat Pump Water Heater
Requirements: Applications must be signed by the account holder. Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor and equipment specification along with your application form.









Rebate*: $300/ Unit

Rebate Maximum is $600

New or replacement heat pump water heaters are eligible. Installation must be performed by a contractor and is subject to KPUB inspection to validate requirements are met.

Central Air Conditioner, Central Heat Pump, & Ductless Mini Splits
Requirements: To qualify for rebates all units must be at least 15.3 SEER2, 11.7 EER, 8.5 HSPF. Existing system information must be filled in completely to quality for rebate, i.e. existing mfg., existing model existing serial number. Applications must be complete and signed by account holder and include a copy of contractor’s invoice and AHRI certificate. Rebates are tiered for equipment that has higher efficiency levels than the minimum. These rebates apply to home improvement or retrofit projects only. In order to qualify for rebates, all HVAC equipment must be installed by an HVAC contractor licensed within the State of Texas, with the exception of mini splits. Model and serial number(s) for each inside and outside unit must be included on the invoice.
*Rebate Maximum is $900. Maximum excludes rebate paid to contractor.
Smart Thermostat
Requirements: Applications must be signed by the account holder. Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor. Device must be installed at location associated with account.















Rebate*: $25/ Thermostat

Rebate Maximum is $50

Thermostats must be programmable and Wi-Fi capable to be eligible. Wi-Fi connection must be present with device connected at time of inspection to be eligible. Installation not performed by a contractor will be subject to KPUB inspection to validate requirements are met.

Window Replacement
Requirements: Windows must have a U-Factor of less than or equal to 0.35 and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of less than or equal to 0.25. Invoices must include the following information: Window manufacturer, model, size, U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Co-efficient (SHGC) for each window installed. Applications must be signed by the account holder. Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor along with your application form and supporting documents.











Rebate*: $2.00/ Sq Ft

Rebate Maximum is $500

Windows must be new and installed per manufacturer’s installation requirements. Windows must have a U-Factor of less than or equal to 0.35 and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of less than or equal to 0.25. Windows must be National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) rated. Garages and other non-living areas do not qualify. This rebate does not apply to new construction. KPUB reserves the right to inspect all windows to verify completion and efficiency ratings.

Window Unit Replacement
Requirements: In order to qualify for rebates, all equipment must be listed as an ENERGY STAR rated piece of equipment. Documentation must include model and serial number(s) for each unit.











Rebate*: $25/ Unit Replaced

Rebate Maximum is $100

Rebates are for equipment replacement only and must be a one for one replacement. Applications must be complete and signed by Account Holder and include proof the equipment is ENERGY STAR rated.
