Residential Time-of-Use Application

BEMC’s Time-of-Use (TOU) Rates reward members with a lower electric rate for shifting energy-intensive tasks – such as heating/cooling, doing laundry and running your dishwasher – away from peak hours.

This rate plan encourages you to shift your electricity use to periods of low demand, or during off-peak hours, by paying less per kilowatt-hour (kWh) than our standard energy usage charge.

The TOU Rate can help you save money based on your ability to shift energy away from peak time. This does require some change in habits to achieve maximum savings. Members with more than 12 months of service history can estimate how much they can save on the TOU Rate by using the interactive TOU calculator on SmartHub. Time-of-Use is only available for BEMC members.

Were you previously enrolled in a Time-of-Use rate within the last 6 months?

You must wait 6 months to reapply for a Time-of-Use rate.

Are you participating in our Connect to Save thermostat program?

Thermostat program participants are ineligible for Time-of-Use, please email connect2save@bemc.org for more information.

Do you have solar installed or plan to have solar installed?

Time-of-Use cannot be paired with Net metering, please email netmeter@bemc.org for more information.

I understand that after being enrolled in Time-of-Use, if I have a change in circumstance or find that the rate is not a good option for my lifestyle, I can switch back to a standard rate.
