VEC is offering a free home level 2 charger for residential members. Participants are responsible for the installation and must install the charger and enroll it in VEC's communications platform within 90 days of receiving the charger. When VEC expects peak demand, we will send a signal to the charger and request that it not charge during that time period, typically 2-4 hours.
Participants also will be enrolled in VEC’s Beat the Peak Program, where members receive alerts about 3-4 times during the summer when VEC expects high demand for electricity. During these events, VEC requests that members take steps to decrease their electric use, such as shutting lights off, turning up the thermostat, and delaying use of major appliances.
To be eligible, you must have a residential account with VEC, an electric vehicle, and access to WIFI in the location where the charger will be installed. Only one charger will be provided per location, and the charger must be installed at your VEC service address
