Peak Power Rewards with logo 2025
PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Peak Power Rewards (PPR) program is a voluntary energy curtailment program for residential consumer-members who receive electric service from Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association (EECA). This program is not applicable to consumer-members who are participating in other curtailment programs. Consumer-members will continue to be subject to the rate terms and conditions of their respective Rate Schedules with EECA and have a smart meter installed at their service location.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Seasonality: The PPR program will typically call curtailment events during the summer (June – August) and winter (December – February) months, but events may occur year-round.

Event timeframe:

·         Summer events will typically occur between the hours of 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

·         Winter events will typically occur 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

·         Events may occur on any day and time of the year due to emergency situations.

Penalties: Events are completely voluntary. There are no penalties for non-participation.

Performance Incentive: The performance incentive will be a bill credit based on a participant’s total energy reduction, in kilowatt-hours (kWh), during a curtailment event. Consumer-members are eligible to receive the performance incentive for the calculated energy reduction achieved for each event. The performance incentive is subject to change at any time. Any changes to incentives or the program will be emailed to the consumer-member before they are made.

Program Duration: Members are enrolled in the Peak Power Rewards (PPR) program on an ongoing basis and may terminate participation at any time by emailing demandresponse@eeca.coop.

PROGRAM DEFINITIONS

Event Notifications

Participating consumer-members will receive advance notice of curtailment events. An initial notification should be provided 24 hours in advance for most events and will include the event date, start time and end time. A reminder notification will also be sent 1 hour before the event begins (unless the event is scheduled to start in 6 hours or less).

Notifications will be sent to the participating consumer-member’s designated contact(s) via e-mail, text message, or combination thereof as specified by the consumer-member and EECA. Participating consumer-members are responsible for ensuring contact information is kept current and notifying EECA if any changes are necessary.

Curtailment Event

During the event, you will be incentivized to curtail or reduce your energy usage as much as possible. It is up to the participating consumer-member to decide how to reduce energy and by how much. Energy reduction can be achieved by:

  • Adjusting temperature settings (for example, in the summer increase your thermostat setting by 4 or more degrees).

  • Turning off lights.

  • Shifting clothes washing/drying, dishwashing and/or cooking usage to outside of the event time frame.

  • Turning off pool pump, if applicable.

  • Reducing the use of multiple appliances at the same time.

  • Waiting to use any other form of significant electricity until the event is over, or shifting that use to a time outside of the event.

  • Delaying electric vehicle charging.

  • Switching to a safely installed backup generator, if applicable.

Baseline Load

Baseline Load is an estimate of the participating consumer-member’s load if a curtailment event had not been called. The baseline load for any interval during an event will be calculated as the average of the measured usage during the same interval of the consumer-member’s three (3) highest energy consumption days within the last ten (10) non-weekend, non-event days. For weekend events, the baseline will include prior 3 weekend, non-event days following the same methodology as described for weekday events.

An event day correction could be made to a consumer-member's baseline load to reflect weather or other substantive differences between their load on the event day and the baseline calculation. The adjustment factor will then be applied to the consumer-member's baseline load for each interval during the event. The adjustment factor may either raise or lower the consumer-member's baseline load.

Energy Reduction Calculation

Energy reduction during a curtailment event, as measured in kWh, will be calculated by subtracting the consumer-member's actual usage during the event period from their baseline load for the same time period. This calculation will be done after any baseline load adjustment has been made.

Credit Billing

To calculate the consumer-member's performance incentive credit, EECA will multiply the performance incentive rate by the energy reduction in kWh. EECA or SIPC will calculate and apply the performance incentive credits as part of the monthly bill for electric service to each PPR participating consumer-member. If the participating consumer-member terminates service before the final performance incentive credit has been calculated, then no payment to the participating consumer- member shall be credited.

PEAK POWER REWARDS AGREEMENT

I understand that this program is availble to active Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association (EECA) consumer-members only.

I understand that EECA’s Peak Power Rewards (PPR) Program is designed with the benefit of both consumer-members and EECA. By enrolling in the PPR Program, I will do my best to reduce my energy consumption when called upon during a curtailment/PPR event to assist in maintaining grid stability and reducing the need for additional power generation. In return for my efforts, I may earn bill credits, contributing to overall cost savings for me and EECA.

I understand that EECA may occasionally survey members about this program to help evaluate and improve it. I also agree that any feedback, comments, or testimonials I provide-whether through surveys, email, online reviews, or other written formats-may be used by EECA in future communications or promotional materials, with or without my name attached.

I understand that I will be credited for each kWh reduced under my calculated baseline energy usage during PPR events. The performance incentives I accumulate will be applied as a bill credit on the following month’s electric bill, as they are earned.

I understand there are no penalties associated with this program for non-participation during PPR events. The PPR Program and monetary credited amounts are subject to change at any time throughout the life of the program.
