  • Student must be a child (or under legal guardianship) of an active member (primary residence) of Jackson Electric and reside in the same household.
  • Student must demonstrate a desire to continue their education at either a technical college or university.
  • Jackson Electric shall award up to ten $1,000 scholarships based on merit and financial need.
  • Application, essay, and a photo of the applicant must be submitted by MARCH 16, 2026, no later than 4:30 p.m. 
  • Late applications will not be accepted.
  • If this form is incomplete, inaccurate, or not signed, it will not be considered.
  • Please do not contact Jackson Electric to determine the status of the scholarship award. Scholarship recipients will receive a letter or email from Jackson Electric. However, issues with completing the form, please contact the main office at 715-284-5385.

Essay or Video Requirements

In either an essay or video, please answer the following prompt: 


Cooperatives are owned by their members and operate to benefit the communities they serve. All cooperatives are guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles, with the seventh principle being "Concern for Community."


In your own words, explain what "Concern for Community" means to you and why it is important for electric cooperatives. Share how this principle impacts the communities they serve and describe your own experiences with volunteer work or community involvement. Reflect on how helping others has shaped your values and discuss ideas you have for promoting this principle in your community.

Essay Guidelines:

  • A minimum of 1,000 words.
  • Essay must contain an introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • Electronic submissions must be in PDF format.
  • The essay will be evaluated based on its content, formatting, and grammar.

Video Guidelines:

  • The video should be two to five minutes in length.
  • The video will be evaluated based on its content, creativity, and professionalism.
  • Submissions must be in MP4 format.
  • Examples of video editing software:
    • Computer: Garage Band, OpenShot, DaVinci Resolve, iMovie
    • Phone: Several free apps are available in the app store, including InShot.
