1. Read scholarship guidelines to ensure you qualify prior to submitting an application.

2. Students who are planning to attend college must complete the appropriate online application. Sioux Valley Energy will only accept online submissions. Printed or mailed applications will not be considered. 

3. Complete and ensure your application has all the appropriate information filled out for each section. Applications that are not fully complete will not be considered.

4. Upload a recent copy of your academic transcript.

5. Four-Year University/College Scholarship applicants will need to upload ACT and/or SAT exam scores. (Technical College/Two-Year Community College and Power Line applicants are not required to upload ACT and/or SAT scores.)

6. Personal Statement – Write a personal statement that is authentic and specific to yourself. Describe who you are as a person, what your goals are, and how you plan to accomplish them. In your response, discuss your intended career path, how you plan to achieve your goals, and what you hope to accomplish through your education. Additionally, include any other relevant experiences, personal motivations, or circumstances that would help the scholarship committee understand why you are a strong candidate for a scholarship. The personal statement must be less than 500 words and utilize original thought. Artificial intelligence (AI) applications, such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc., are not allowed. 

7. Reference – Applicants will submit the email address of at least one person who can provide a recommendation, such as a teacher, school counselor, coach, mentor, employer, youth leader, pastor, etc.

a. An email will be sent to your recommender. It will be your responsibility to let your recommender know you listed them as a reference and to look for an email containing a link to complete the recommendation form.

Once your application is complete, please submit the online application with all sections completed, including supporting documentation. Your recommender will receive an email after you submit your online scholarship application.


The Sioux Valley Energy Scholarship Selection Committee will review all scholarship applications and select scholarship recipients. All decisions are final.
